french brothers baptiste & pierre colleu have been making music together since they were children. they spent a chunk of their childhood in africa, which they say has inspired their work in the studio. that influence is submerged fairly deep on dolphin kid, the title track for these two eps. theres an undercurrent of eerie soulfulness and woody percussion accents running through this oddly alluring cosmic-house seducer, but its roots are more balearic than afrobeat.

after highlighting two young french talents for its first releases with madben and oniris, astropolis records now invites two french techno legends for its third release. the driver, techno aka for french rave key figure manu le malin and techno veteran electric rescue join their forces for a first 12 inch * the wolves * : a dark fang strike, fierce, beastly. the encounter of these two french techno activist couldnt have result in anything else than an explosiv termination : two raw and nagging techno tracks blending up both artist proper musical background.

alexander kowalski is someone you should know. not only is he a resident artist at our club, but with uncountable eps and several albums on heiko laux label kanzleramt and others, he has contributed more to electronic music than many others. to have a separate platform for the darker and harder productions of his, he created the alias d_func. a while ago. when he approached us with the tracks that are now on the record in hand, we immediately fell in love with the mills-like energy of them. perfect drum programming, driving synth lines two perfect tools for any proper techno set. the dirt mix of revalism which is included in the digital release package puts the original in a more modern jacket with its stompy beat – another proof of how well alexander knows what the djs need to please their crowd.let the dancefloors burn!

following their acclaimed debut album, migration, on prins thomas internasjonal label in 2012, jamie paton and nigel hoyle (aka nigel of bermondsey) have seemed relatively quiet save for the odd remix here and there. tucked away deep in their south east london base though, a series of remixes and solo projects have been steadily forming. with new c&a material planned for 2014, plus more to come from jamies new solo efforts, as well as nigel making a long overdue reappearance in maurice & charles, now seems the right time to draw a line under their collective work to date. here then are a collection of unreleased interpretatons, including the sought after vocal remix of psychedlic darlings, in goats anthemic run to your mama. this is followed by a late night dub of 80s pop duo blancmange that mixes strings, guitar and some dub bass with a dose of space echo before bringing neil arthur s classicly recognisable refrain shining through. to finish is a remix of goats label mates teeth of the sea. fx-soundtrack vocal, bubbling 303 and 808 combine on a proper 3am dub that builds beyond some mere drug-chug.

cyber dance records return with a full-length double-vinyl album from manchesters kid machine (aka mark wilkinson) following a string of instantly sold-out eps for viewlexx, red laser and flight recorder. a long-time collaborator of world-famous italo disco dj flemming dalum, it is no surprise that many of the tracks have that hallmark space sound reminiscent of the likes of cyber people and koto, but mark stamps his own distinct identity on the genre by slowing down the bpms and incorporating many other influences throughout so that this is no retro affair but a distinctly fresh and modern take on the genre.

fresh from supporting claude vonstroke on the massive 25 date north american urban animal tour, j.phlip, has finally stolen a moment to complete her latest and much anticipated release. her last appearance on dirtybird called *coefficient*, found the girl from illinois flexing her european techno muscles and adding the likes of surgeon & dave clarke to her rapidly swelling fanbase. her incredible dj skills on the road have been catching everyone’s attention and she is currently prepping to go back on the road with vonstroke for the europe leg of his tour.

dungeon meat is the new label and production outfit brought to you by dungeon masters brawther and tristan da cunha. packing a serious punch, its aim is to present tracks designed specifically to rock the party and shake the sound system. originally conceived as a platform for their own musical visions it soon became apparent that they would have to open the doors to a select few who shared their ambition to make no messing, hard hitting house grooves. one of these artists is the mysterious blunt instruments who has the honour of kicking off the label. after road testing his huge club hammer hold back brawther and da cunha knew it had to be on dungeon meat as it epitomised exactly the sound they wanted to present. hold back has been a firm fixture in their sets and even got cut to dubplate by jeremy underground paris. its not all about the a-side though as blunt instruments craft 2 other killer club cuts for the flip side we wont go on too much trying to describe how good this ep is ... instead well let the music do the talking

piston recordings label boss rogerio martins is next up on his own well-established label with a new track that gets plenty of great remix treatment from joss moog, james dexter and jr from dallas. martins has steered his label through a dizzying amount of quality releases since 2007 picking up support from the likes of laurent garnier and john aquaviva who have confirmed themselves as fans in the past and this new release is sure to find just as much favour with the top dogs. >gonna be mine< is the one martins original and is a classical inclined bit of mature house music with sombre piano chords draped over nicely shuffling percussion. subtle human sounds litter the arrangement and more lively stabs enter the fray in the latter half but essentially this is all about the warm and inviting groove.

for over 12 months thomas feriero aka avatism, our friend and label partner, has been staying at home and working on his album. he moved to berlin to work on it and now sadly (for us) yet (gladly) for him he is moving back to milan. poof! just like that. so what did this year entail exactly? well for some of us not much. we got to see him in his studio comfy pants a couple of times (he wears slippers) we heard his studio woes, ate pasta with him, drank beers and of course got to hear his album at every juncture. while this self-imposed exile may have been a little worrisome the result is fortunately spectacular. adamant is a glimpse into how a city shapes a life and how intrinsically life then shapes music.

bombero y chica is the quality electronica/tech duo from thessaloniki, greece created by mr.lookman and despoina terzidou. theyve started working together since 2009 and they have managed to release two electronica tracks for the radio lunatica compilations (released by v.i.m.records)

these tracks magnitude and direction is best understood when the dislocation-bearing crystal structure is first visualized without the dislocation. in this release structure, once the encompassing track is drawn, the dislocation can be introduced. this dislocation will have the effect of deforming, not only the perfect crystal structure, but the track as well. the direction of the vector depends on the plane of dislocation, which is usually on the closest-packed unit of a low-frequency cell.

here we have our second slice of plastic, this time three tracks with two original cuts from labels boss kike pravda and a stomping oscar mulero remix. oscar mulero revises amplitude, more uplifting, with a totally different perspective plus a little bit of acid.

philadelphia native hollis p monroe is a man who has been slowly and steadily building a respectable catalogue of music since his debut on canadian label stickman in 1997. appearances on josh winks ovum and the legendary west end label have all helped establish hollis as a talented writer, producer, vocalist and dj having recently been drafted in for collaborations with the likes of kink, trickski and rampa. here we find him producing under his new moniker the black 80s in collaboration with frank julien, and following hot on the heels of a killer release for compost black label.

squarehead is the latest young producer to sparkle on shabby doll, with his *bats & stuff* ep delivering yet more bump and wallop for the discerning house head. otherwise known as oliver ledger, squarehead is possessed of a precocious talent – his debut *keep it moving* ep on bad taste was a juno download number one, while his records have won hard-earned airplay on radio one thanks to supporters like toddla t and skream – and with dj appearances across europe plus his own 5andseven label, he is right at the heart of sheffields current underground scene.

once again danse club records have unearthed a forgotten and sorely overlooked house track here, then they have enlisted a fine pair of contemporary producers -sqim and deepchild - to remix it and bring it right up to date. the original, whos dick is this is a 1994 kicking house bomb by the mysterious princess di, who released but three eps during the 90s on music station with this track being the pick of the bunch. german producer sqim is associated with labels like exploited and play it down and firstly offers up a ghetto mix of the track
